✍️ Success Story: Clean Water, Clear Futures — A Borehole Brings Hope to Ibeju-Lekki
“Before now, our children had to walk over two kilometers just to fetch water,” says Chief Alabi, a community leader in Ejigbo, Lagos. The water they found wasn’t always clean—and often led to cases of typhoid, cholera, and other waterborne diseases.
That changed in November 2025, when The Eko Impact partnered with local engineers and donors to drill a solar-powered borehole right in the heart of the community.
The project wasn’t just about drilling; it was about empowerment. Local youth were trained to manage and maintain the water system, ensuring sustainability and ownership.
Today, over 500 families in Ijegun have access to clean, safe water right at their doorstep.
“Our children are healthier. The women are relieved. This borehole gave us our dignity back,” says Mama Risi, a resident.
